83 chev K20 military
« on: April 25, 2018, 07:34:33 PM »
What is the max tire size with out body or suspension lift mods ? I have 4.56 gears with 16.5 x 9.50 which measure about 29.5 tall. I want to change to 16 inch rims but don't know which backspacing to get to work with bigger tires for clearance. Thanks from Kansas .

i did a little information gathering about tires/lifts. i have a 91 k3500 crew cab, with no lift and i was able to squeeze 33s under mine

Canadians used K20 and K30, not to familiar with the time frame, but did use GM trucks earlier then the US.

As for tires and backspacing, a no lift, 33" may fit, 32" definitely.  A thinner rim and 235/85/16s will look good, with a 4" backspace. As long as there is less then 4" backspace I think any other width of tire can also be accommodated.
