Parking brake cable routing
« on: April 24, 2021, 04:21:13 PM »
Looking for some pictures of parking brake routing for a k10. Looked online, and through the brake section of this section and I'm not finding what I'm looking for, only pics for c10s. And I have a 2wd parts truck out. I started with a stripped frame and it never had any brake parts. I have the rear all hooked up and I see the eyes by the trans Crossmember but not sure what I need in front of that

C10 and K10 use the same routing.

Ok I saw that lay out, where does the intermediate run side to side?

Lots of talk about the routing in the pic but it always says c10. The frame brackets are different on a k10 for the intermediate cable so it is difficult to decipher whether it is the same or not.

I just replaced all of the cables in the 79 K10 last weekend. The routing is the same as the top picture.

As VZ said, I have a 1981 K10 and it is the same as the top pics. I just ran all new lines.

I'm still struggling with this, I really feel like I shouldn't be. Truck is a lwb and I have the 131" intermediate cable. What did I screw up? Cable hits the transfer case, and if it goes under its touching the front output flange. If move the hooks back it will be super floppy. Help!

Hard to tell from your pix. Do you have the guide for the front cable to connect to the intermediate cable? Looks like you have the guide rods in wrong. Is there a transfer case drop or is the crossmember flush against the frame? Try to get better pics. Lace everything up with a rope or string and figure out what length intermediate cable you need. Maybe you have the wrong one.

I do not have a transfer case drop, trans Crossmember is tight to the frame. It is Ls swapped with a 4l60 and 208 and I'm using the w style Crossmember. And no I don't have the front guide should be here this week

If you are sure that you have the correct frame year and cables at the front and rear, then it sounds like you have the wrong intermediate cable.

I moved the front hooks back to where everything looks right and it would line up with the front cable, I guess I'll take the cable and get a crimp put on it. It needs to be 21" shorter. Short box is 26" shorter.
