292 with EFI
« on: September 18, 2015, 09:19:11 PM »
Hi as I said in my hi post I have another car being built paint job was completed Friday just need to finish engine and reassemble . Its a South African Chevrolet Kommando Wagon based on the Australian Holden HG sheet metal at front is different plus a few other minor details. Original engine was 250 6. Now to the motor I have bought port lumps for the head on the 292 and had them fitted along with 1.94 inch intake vales and 1.6 inch exhaust valves. I have Comp Cams roller rockers 1.7 ratio. Head has been done and cleaned up flow number is 248Cfm. I have a Comp Cams camshaft 212 degrees duration @ .050 lift .512 lift at valve 110 lobe separation. I have Ross Forged 250 Flat top pistons in 040 oversize weight 488 grams. Molnar billet long rods to use lighter 250 pistons in 7.130 inch length this will lower piston speed and weight. Intake is an Aussie Speed 4 barrel intake. Headers are cast headers from Langdons Stove Bolt and are ceramic coated. I also bought a small cap HEI distributor from Langdons as well. EFI is and MSD Atomic 4 barrel . I received the last off my parts on Friday as well and dropped them at engine builders so should have it together in next week or so then onto dyno to tune. Internal parts were bought from Tom Lowe at 12bolt.com .

Thanks and while getting stuff I found a set off NOS Halibrand sweet swirl rims so I bought them for the wagon.

I would really love to make it back again sometime. I went about 20 years ago to Sydney and where my mom was from but haven't been since.

I tried to pull in there for a port call but we were always shot down. How strong is the aftermarket down in the deep south. I noticed you use more American lingo then most Aussies I have spoken with... Got roots in the states by chance?

I see you have the bolt-in lump port modification to your heads!  Nice!  I have a 292 that I have not completed yet.  I have Propane pistons (the 292 dish in the piston is half the depth of the gas piston) that I have ceramic coated and low-friction coated.  I have custom Crower, tapered H-beam rods for it and the lighter-weight forged crank.  I also have the 4-bbl aluminum intake and Jet-hot coated, full-length, Tri-Y headers.  I still have to do the head modifications for the lump-port.

Looking good... the only thing that may give away that it's not a stock rebuild is the 110 LSA. Bet it's gonna sound good!
