How much should I pay for 1984 c10?
« on: October 23, 2019, 03:55:30 PM »
I found a local truck to replace my c10 that was totaled. Long story short, I left the truck in neutral on a hill at my house and hit the neighbors car. :) Luckily i broke even on my investment with full coverage from Geico.

This truck is a 1984 c10 350. AC works, new tires, brakes, brake hoses. I haven’t went to look at it yet, but it looks in pretty good condition judging by the photos. It will need painted eventually due to clear coat issues. I would paint it the same color, so shouldn’t be as expensive. The owner states there is no rust, but I will be looking at it soon.

Assuming this truck had no issues other than the paint, what would you guys pay for it? This is in WV where these trucks are popular.

In Tucson (assuming anyone had any money here), that would fetch over 10k.

Thanks guys. I passed on the 1984. I did find a 1986 that has a new crate 305 engine and th350. It was painted last year, although it wasn’t the greatest paint job. I could not find any rust except a tiny bit in the front inner fender well. I drove it today and everything works great. The only issues i found were the steering wheel needed aligned and the speedo cable made noise. The speed was also off on the speedometer according to the owner. It drives really straight and i found no mechanical issues at all besides the above mentioned. It has a huge list of new parts, but will need about $1000 in cosmetics to get it to where I want it to be currently...excluding paint. :) He is asking $7500. I wish I would of took pictures to post on here.

I got him down to $7,000. I’m still making my mind up on it. If I buy it and since it’s mechanically sound, i would be putting a new dash, door panels, and gauge bezel in. Everything else in the interior is good. Here are a few pictures:

That's a nice ride man!

Did they paint the trim and door panels black?

My '78 came with red interior. The door panels were badly faded as were the kick panels.

I found a automotive rattle can paint that matched real close, want to say 'colonial' red, or something like that.

Very please with the uplift, looked factory new.

I also used silver metallic wheel paint on the rims, and the non-chromed part of the hub cap.

If you choose to do so, just make sure all surfaces are 'really' clean... but you know that, right?

Please post more pics, and finally, I think that's a good price. I paid 9K for my K10. All she needed was some love and soap.

No the dash and door panels were badly covered with vinyl. That’s why they need replaced. Most of the trucks I have researched in this condition are at minimum $9k.

Did you ask the guy where he found a "crate 305", because I've never seen one advertised.  All the GM crate engines are 350 or 383, and I don't think ATK or any other crate motors use the 305.   If its not a crate engine, then you should find out who really built the engine.

Also, by '84 I thought most GM trucks were using the TH700R4, so is the TH350 also supposed to be original?   I like the TH350, but you should ask what truck it came out of.

He said he got it through autozone and he has the receipt. Although I haven’t looked at the receipt yet.

Rtlane---the first red truck the 84 was that a short box? The 86 my God the guy has everything zip tied. Looks like a hole bag of zip ties, this is zip tied, that is zip tied. Kinda shows how the truck went together. Some thing to think about.

The crate 305 was available from GM/goodwrench and i think recently discontinued.   (i would know about things like that because i'm into small engines).   Not saying the one in the truck IS or isn't from gm.
