Changed to LED’s dash lights Now No Dash lights at All !
« on: September 15, 2019, 11:00:52 AM »
Posting for a Friend

Ok, I bought those bulbs, installed them like the video says, when I went to switch them on for the first time light switch started smoking and coil was orange, and now no dash lights work except the red brake light it works. I turned the LED’s 180 and still nothing ..I replaced the headlight switch and no change, even if I put the old bulbs in, checked fuses too...And I’m getting power to the circuit, only thing is it might be the circuit but it don’t look burned and my test light lights up on it...Any help would be greatly appreciated

What year/make/model vehicle?  Which circuit, specifically?  Where did you probe for power?  If the headlamp switch smoked and the rheostat glowed, there was excessive current flow, if only for a few moments.  Check again for a melted instrument lamps fuse.  Carefully look for a short circuit that was inadvertently introduced during the upgrade - could be a faulty (shorted) LED module or bare metal may be contacting the instrument panel PCB.  Inspect the I/P PCB for evidence of heat stress such as obvious melting, discoloration or severe distortion.

Yikes! Doesn't sound good...

BD has you on the right track, sounds like a inadvertent short to ground.

You may have multiple burn points now, keep a sharp eye out for burns and warps.
