Ditto on what Pholliday1 stated...Keeping in mind there are only 3/4 Ton 2WD frames, there are no 3/4 4x4 crew cabs.
would all of thses trucks have the vin on the frame then? I have never spoted one on any of my trucks, but rust probably would be the issue with that. As far as i know they would only check cab.
Does California check frame vins???
I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my truck after it jettisoned its timing chain and bent all its valves. I need a 4x4 for where I live and I need a smog exempt truck. I also want a 1-ton crew cab. I went to check out someone's project truck last week. He wanted $2,000 firm for a K20 4x4 crew cab frame, body, Dana 60 front axle, all relevant steering hardware, 35" rims and tires. There were also a few boxes of random parts. It sounded like everything I wanted but... He claimed it was a 1975 smog exempt body, but the VINs didn't match. The last 4" of the frame had been cut off for a short bed conversion. Without a clear registration, it was just an expensive pile of scrap iron for me. I got the creeps and walked away. Was I an idiot?
