Title: 350 turbo transmission change question
Post by: mmanter on May 18, 2020, 07:56:48 PM
Hey guys,

The transmission on my 82 C10 straight six has failed, and I was installing a replacement unit, when I noticed two electrical plugs. A two pin plug on the passenger side, and a four pin plug on the driver side.

From what I read the four pin plug is for the torque converter lock up, and needs to be mated with the lock up converter. Will I have any issues using this transmission with my truck?

Will the luck up need to be connected, and if so how  would I accomplish that?

What  is the two pin plug for? I couldn't find what that is or if it needs to be connected.

Last, will there be an issue using that torque converter on my straight six truck?

I am no expert on the TH350C at all. Hope the brain trust comes through for you...

I'll be looking to the response, as I have a '80 with a TH350 coming out of the barn. Wonder if I should do the same...

Just piped in to say there will be no issues running that transmission behind your straight six.

OK cool, that helps some. I was concerned since the stall was potentially different. I'm not sure what it came out of, but my old transmission I believe may be the original TH350, compared to the TH350c unit. As long as it drives I'll be a happy camper. From what I understand I can get an aftermarket TCC control module to get the lock up to work. Wouldn't mind that if it would help MPGs a little.

Do you know the source of the replacement transmission? Pictures would help. A 350C will operate in your rig without the electricals connected

Unfortunately I don't know where it came from. I bought it from someone that I got parts from, and he couldn't tell me much about it, except if it didn't operate he would refund my money. It's in the truck currently, so unable to get pics of it. My dad and I installed it and I thought about the different torque converters, and was going to drop it to use the original converter, although found it won't work on it. Not sure what the stall is or anything of that existing converter.
