bedsides mostly bolt on?
« on: February 18, 2006, 04:26:00 PM »
Change of plans from buying a complete bed. The righthand side is the only thing messed up so I am looking a doing just a bed side.

I have been told by a few people that the bedside on my '86 longbed C10 is mostly bolt on with exception of a few small welds. Is this something that is true? If so it would make alot more sense to just fix the one side rather than swap the whole bed.

Also are the   bedsides about the closest that I will get to having the same gauge steel as a factory GM bedside?

The beds are 99.9% bolt on, with only a couple small spot welds below the tailgate area.

This will help answer any other questions you might have.

Make sure you weld it at same places when you install it to keep it from working loose and shaking around later.
