Gabriel Gaurdian 82003 Rear Shocks
« on: March 06, 2017, 09:54:34 AM »
82 Chev Silverado w/ 5" flip kit

I understand that people have used the Gabriel Gaurdian 82003 Rear shocks with a flip kit.

I found a couple at Autozone yesterday but they don't appear to be correct.  (Neither end has the correct sized hole)

Are people drilling them out to fit or are these the wrong ones entirely?

Thanks!

Hi boom3. I just talked to the Gabriel answer man last Friday. I was asking about 82006 with same problem, And he said to push out the inner sleeve and you will have the right size for the bolts. I just ordered The 82006 because I want to lower my 87 2/4. The 82003 has a extended length of 18.5" and 11.44 collapsed length. The 82006 has a ext lgth of 20.4" and 12.62" coll lgth. Both will need
Sleeves pressed out .Hope this helps.

Boom,  I bought the 82006. They don't fit. Both ends are for 1/2" bolts. Your trucK should have
5/8" top bolt and 9/16" bottom. I didn't know that till I took old shocks off. Will take back and
Reorder 81164 , which is orig  replacement and has right sized bushings. Sorry about that.
If you need after flip kit, get or make shock extenders. Do you have 52" or 56" springs?
The 56" are HD. RPO is G51.

Thanks Jerry.

I meant to post yesterday but never got the chance.
I returned the 82003's yesterday.  I did attempt to push out the inner sleeve (in my vice with an opposing socket on the rubber) and it didn't really want to budge.  Well it looked like it would move but then it would just return to where it was.  I really didn't want to mess and make them un-returnable so I stopped.

I'll either buy known drop shocks or shock extenders.

So you are going to run shock extenders? I'm looking for the shock I need to a 4" rear drop and rather not use extenders
