Go with Irish's suggestion: disco your fuel line, direct it into  a jar and have your buddy crank the engine over.

While your at it, and he is cranking, pour a tiny bit of gas down the carb and see what happens. If gas is gushing out of your fuel line, have him stop.

That means Your fuel pump is good, look for a clogged fuel filter at the carburetor.

If it doesn't gush gas, your fuel pump is not good. Replace and try again.

ANYONE else have this fuel problem?
« Reply #17 on: February 21, 2019, 10:04:17 PM »
ANYONE have fuel have problems?

I recently had a no-start issue but it turns out my gas tank was low on fuel. Possible leak. My truck was on a hill  (not that steep)with 2 gallons in the tank and it would not start. After being pushed to flat ground and topped up with another gallon the truck started up fine.... Why? Is It common for a truck to not be able to be started on incline? Seems strange.  It turns out I have a possible leak but again  not sure where.something black ish is making small puddle s . I have the C20 with the Dual tanks.. does anyone else have a problem with the fuel gauge reading incorrectly? Sometimes when I have low low fuel it will say I have three quarter tank/full.

Thanks

I had vehicles that were unable to draw the last little bit of gas

Just keep more gas in it

I know that this is an old thread, but, just wanted to add that I have found the gauges (especially the gas) to be rather inconsistent and not always accurate.

yea i noticed (for cold start) that i need to pump gas pedal for about 10 seconds then wait another 10 seconds . then she starts fine. with open choke.

also i have noticed gas gauges work but they are not exact in anyway, it will show full for first 100 miles and then slowly go down. the gauges usually stop for me around 1/4 quarter tank.  but the truck is not empty. overall my gauges work but i agree with you not accurate..

but hey.. she is an old lady after all. her memory aint great..

Let's remove some variables, like spark first.

While cranking the engine, pour a small amount of gas down the carb. If it fires temporarily, you have eliminated the ignition system as a problem.

Next, take a tiny funnel, and pour 3-4 ounces of gas down the carb bowl vent. It's the 3/8 metal tube at the front of the carb. Be careful and take your time.

Next try to start the truck. It should run for few minutes until you use up the gas just poured in.

The time it runs may end your problem, if it allows the fuel pump to fill the carb bowl.

If it doesn't continue to run, you have reduced the problem to the following:

Fuel pump, fuel filter(s), fuel lines.

Eliminate them one at a time, starting with filters. Don't miss the one at the carb, most guys don't know it's there.

Ummm...    ::)

I suppose I should be grateful that I'm not the only one who loses track of time...    8)

The OP added gasoline to the fuel tank last February and resolved the no-start problem.    ;D

In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!
