Rotor removal/installation for 4x4 k10
« on: April 20, 2007, 12:37:45 AM »
I have a 1977 chevrolet k10 and my rotor on the left side is bad so I'm replacing both front rotors.  Anyway I was wondering what I need to do to take off the rotor, and how hard it would be.  Or any pictures or exploded views anybody might have would be awesome.  I would like to do this tomorrow morning so anything before then would be great.  Thanks

A Chiltons or Haynes manual have exploded views and detailed instructions of this. You need to disassemble the hub, then there are two nuts that you should use special hub sockets to remove. They hold the wheel bearing / rotor on. Then you need to separate the rotor form the center hub housing.
This is a basic overview, but should give you a general idea.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

While you do this, inspect and repack/replace the wheel bearings if needed.

Hey if your going to do it at school wash/dry/inspect those bearings first before you repack them, They must have a parts washer.
