Brakes

I got a problem dont know where this goes but im puttin it here. My back brakes dont work when i hit the brakes unless i pump the pedal a couple times first then ill feel then workin. anybody had this problem

did you check your brake fluid level?

Yes fluid levels fine. its been like this for a while. just trying to figure out what to do to make it work like it should

May be one of the following:

a-Air in the brake lines going to the rear----remedy, bleed the brakes very well starting with the right rear.

b-Either one or both of your rear drum adjustment sprocket is frozen or won't work. Remedy--Take the drums off and try to manually expand the (turn the sproket) threaded adjuster.

c-Master cylinder may be going bad...one resevoir controls the front, one the back. that is why you have two resevoirs in the brake master cylinder. The bigger pond controls the front brakes.

d-Ensure your wheel cylinders are working for your drum brakes.  It doesn't hurt anything the remove the shoes and take each wheel cylinder apart to ensure the little pistons are moving freely in them.


Just a few things to throw out there.
