Hydroboost Proportioning vavle
« on: July 14, 2007, 09:15:26 PM »
I have a 1980 GMC 2wd 1500 p/u that was a 5.7 diesel (now BBO powered).

the brakes are the hydroboost & the proportioning valve is hooped.

GM of Canada says this is now an obsolete part & my local parts guys are useless.

can anyone tell me what part # I need to find. Is the 6.2L diesel application the same part?

Please help ASAP.

I am not sure why you are confused....the above post seems infinately clear.

I have a hydroboost brake system & the proportioning valve has failed & I am looking for a new one.

I need a new one (NOS part) or info on a interchange so that I can drive this truck.

Is this clear now?

Hey nice attitude buddy glad I could help  ::)

I am NOT giving you attitude. You editted your original post AFTER I responded & added your assumption wich now makes your original post more clear.

You stated that you were confused & I could not see how so I re-worded my request for parts & info & then asked if it was now more clear.

I was NOT giving you attitude but for some reason you took it that way. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers. Words posted here lack emmotion & sometimes the reader puts their own slant on them.

Can anyone help me find a source for a replacement proportioning valve (as stated GM of Canada says this is obsolete & I can not find an interchange).

calm down guys...  Vile listed the valve from the above, the proportioning (actually combination valve) matches to the brake system, not the booster type (vacuum or hydraulic)  The gasoline version is the same as the diesel verson.

The only thing I edited in my post was adding the link to the part# I listed. I didn't edit one word and I did that while you were replying. I never heard hooped before so I didn't know what you meant. Regardless all my edit had was the link to your part so there you have it. Sorry for the confusion Have a nice day

Looking at the diagram in the link I do not see part # 34-4054. Where do you see that part #?

The paper catalog is different What size rear brakes do you have. The 34-4054 is 129.95 1/2 ton with 11-5/32" rear brakes. That's probably what you have since it was a diesel and I had the exact same year model truck with those brakes on it.

1/2 ton with the smaller 11 & 5/32 rear brakes is exactly what I have.

thanks for all your help; I will get the proportioning valve (part #34-4054) ordered on Monday.

You should be able to go to the local parts store and get this...  It should be the JB3 brakes.
