Stiff TBI throttle pedal
« on: October 07, 2018, 11:10:14 AM »
My 87/350/700r4/TBI engine had a stiff pedal. So I replaced the cable assy with new. Greased before installing. Still stiff. Very touchy when applying initial pressure. Why is it so touchy to
Accelerate only? No extra added spring or anything else.     Thanks.

Check for radial play in the TBI throttle shaft.  The throttle plates may be catching in their bores.

It's difficult to know just how much you don't know until you know it.
In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!

Drove it yesterday for first time since fusible link issue. Seems better. Not sure why.
But I will check throttle play this week. Thanks Rich.

Your TV cable going to transmission could also be worn causing binding. Disconnect cable to transmission and try it. Don't drive it with cable disconnected. Can burn up transmission in a little as a mile.
