Best 1 3/4" header?
« on: October 23, 2016, 08:12:22 PM »
I'm going to be in the market for some 1 3/4" headers pretty soon and am wondering who makes the best fitting ones?  I'm looking for full length headers.

Need more info.  What engine?  What purpose?  What's it going in?  How much do you want to spend?  Etc.

Sorry, yeah more info might help.

383 stroker in my lowered 2WD 81 C10.

$400-$600 range.

Purpose is not important as my engine needs to have the larger primary size to reach its full potential. My engine makes over 500hp and tq.

They need to be either ceramic coated or the black ceramic-like coated ones. No plain steel or stainless steel. I've ran hedmans in my Chevy cars with great success and ground clearance but not sure what works good with these trucks.

if you went and spent that much money on a built motor or built it with a friend then why not ask them whats best for it? they should be able to say you need "these" to work with the engine to reach these numbers

I built this engine myself so I know that's what size it needs. The exhaust ports on my AFR heads take a 1.75" header. I loose 23hp on this engine going down to 1 5/8" headers on the Dyno.

I'm just concerned with fitment.

I've been building engines since I was 15. Everything from daily drivers to 8 second super comp. I also used to own the only engine Dyno arlund for 100 miles.

Yeah I saw these but again, not sure what the best fitting ones are for these trucks.

I have these, but they're so long that they hit the brackets of my leaf springs. It makes a rattle, especially on cold starts. I'm currently looking to buy shorty headers.

I have used Hooker headers with excellent results on my '77 big block 4x4.

I originally had Headman Hedders on my truck but when I took the lift out the right hand hedder was in the way of the front driveshaft. When I called Headman about my issue the tech flunkie basically told me their hedders were so easy to install that a monkey could do it and if I was having trouble then I must be more stupid than a monkey. So, never again will I use Headman Hedders.

I ended up buying the black max coated version of these:  https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hed-69086/overview/year/1984/make/chevrolet/model/c10

They finally showed up yesterday after having been on back order. I prolly won't have time to get them put on for a week but I'll let everyone knows how they fit
