Which muffler is best for sound and performance

I am looking to upgrade the exhaust on my truck from the stock setup sometime in the near future. I am looking at a pair of flowmaster super 44 from advance auto. I may possibly also put some long tube headers on as well, but that is not certain. What do you all think would be the best option for new mufflers with the headers? With my stock manifolds? It is a 350 sbc engine which will be getting a new edelbrock 4bbl carb as well

Mufflers are a sort of you like them or you don't, I've been partial to Magnaflows and dynomax mufflers.

I would definitely consider headers, even shorty headers.

Ditto on Magnaflow and Dynomax.  I am running Pypes on my turbo truck and like them too.
I HATE the sound of Flowmasters.

Mufflers are like underpants.  You won't know what you like until you buy them, try them, and then you can't return them.

I, too, like Dynomax and Magnaflow.

Flowmasters, to me, sound like the sound got lost and is echoing inside.

I LOVE Flowmaster imo,, they are hands down the best sounding mufflers,  when running a carburetor V8's you tube can back me on this lol

I would go with some shorty headers and flow masters. I am not a fan of the dynomax mufflers, glass packs, turbo mufflers, cherry bombs etc. Flow masters usually last forever unless they suffer from physical damage or a severe load up and backfire. The key is to build a nice system that does not interfere with anything or create a hindrance. I also suggest exits over the rear axle.

I love the Flowmaster 44's! I run them on all my trucks and love the way they sound. If you are looking around, what you could do is look on youtube to see how they sound.
