belt routing diagrams...
« on: December 19, 2010, 09:26:44 AM »
I just bought a 1979 K10 350 w/AC and it has no belts. Anyone have a picture of how they are supposed  go?

i don't know 'bout your k10, but my '79 350 Big 10 shows this routing.  these are pics i took a few years back when removing my 350 to ensure correct placement of them on my 383 stroker....

hope this helps

Would anyone know the part# of the belt that goes around the crank, water pump and P/S pulley only?

i had some trouble finding one of those myself. i have one on my truck now but its very old(off of an old parts truck) and i cant find a match for it. i even took it in to the parts store and they dont have any that match up. its like juuuust perfectly sized. a smaller belt wont go on the pulleys and a larger belt wont get tight.

I have a 79 with no Ac. My alternator belt is by Gates. It says 7445 Gates XL 11A1130. The power steering belt is a Master Pro 7360  15360 3/8 x 36 5/8 OC. I got both at O Reilly's IIRC.  When we got the truck started back up last year I had a hard time finding the right size. When we did get the right one I bought another alternator belt and put the power steering belt sleeve in the glove box. The sleeve in the glove box was the Master Pro.
It's been a LONG time since I have been called a newbie. Just sayin....

OK, i got Dayco 15445  (Gates equivalent 7445) to work.  i'm not saying these are the correct part #'s, because both Dayco and Gates catalogs list a different belt.   But these work.

ok guys i knpw this topic is a little old but i went through the deal finding a replacement belt for the crank/power steering pump/ water pump.

the Gates belt is "339 6419 B105" im not sure which number is the one they use to cross reference but those are the numbers on the belt. this belt is the perfect fit. not too wide and not too narrow.

the Driveworks belt(from Advance Auto) is "42013" and its the perfect fit aswell. plus it is only $5.10 and it has a lifetime warranty.

I had gone to Napa for a belt and the only one they could match up was the "Napa Premium XL 25-7425" it was the right diameter but it was too wide. it didnt actually sit down in the grooves the whole way and it screeched squealed and chirped like crazy. this was the only one they carried that was the right diameter

hope this helps a few people out in the future

the power steering bracket setup im using is from a 78. it might not be a 78 style but the brackets came from a 78 that looked pretty factory as far as i could tell
