Header help
« on: July 05, 2010, 09:28:56 AM »
I'm a new member, just getting started in the old truck scene. I have a fit problem with my headers. Iv'e got an87 SWB TBI truck with a 700R4.I've taken the motorout and replacing it with a 383 stroker,I have the summit headers and they are not fitting right. The first tube interfers with the #3 plug and the #4 plug, they also hit the starter. Any help with this fit problem would help. I seen where some folks have the Headman headers # 69088,looking at the pic's it looks like they are close to the #5 plug. ???

What is the summit part number? Summit doesnt make them, there is another company that does and puts summits name on them.

I sent back the headers and changed to the Edelbrock # 65272 shorty which is a direct replacement for the stock headers. I keep my stock pipes so it will be a less of a pain this way

I got a set of summit headers on an 84 c10 with a 350 in it, not fitment issues other then the number 3 plug, it was kinda long so we dimpled the tube. It doesn't hit the starter though no where near it. Th summit brand at least for these trucks are flowtech headers, had flowtech part no. on the box. I personally didn't care for them because the collector points downward somewhat and not straight back. I had a set of flowtechs on my mcss and they pointed straight back but the pass. side sit right on the floor heat shield.
