my truck has a 350 with straight pipes and 18" cherry bombs out the back, i think it sounds good, pretty low and mellow under 3.5-4k rpm, then nice muscle tone above that. i also have cats though so that quites it down a bit. if you want louder go with the flowmaster 40's but something interesting to note is the SUPER 40's are actually really quite. my buddy put them on his 04 silverado with a 5.3 and was very disappointed when he heard how quite they were, lol.

I've got a magnaflow on my 03 yukon xl 5.3 and I think its one of the better sounding mufflers for a 5.3. I'm not much of a flowmaster person.

The glasspacks sound outstanding! Did end up throwing the cats in the woods! Ha Ha! 8)

Right-on!

I know someone that lives next to a creek and whenever old car parts get changed out for new, the old go in the creek!  Somewhere down stream there is enough parts to build 1.5 small block Chevrolet engines (literally), enough brake rotors and pads to start a museum, and enough nuts and bolts to open a hardware store!

"Just puttin' this here stuff back where it came from", he says.  lol

If I saw someone do that, id punch him in the face and make them go pick it back up.

I'd grab it and go to the junkyard.

So he got those parts from the creek? ::)

I had a set of headers with 2 1/4 Trush glasspacks the dumped right behind the cab. Too loud. I had a set of slowmaster 40s on a 69 routed all the way the back with some tips and they would drone and resonate so badly at 35 to 40MPH that you would want to jump out of the cab.

I have run glass packs-18" is a good length for sound-the longer the quieter.
I have run few dyno max welded and not welded-the welded lasted through one wisconsin winter and rusted through.
I am now running a mangnaflow dual in dual out crossflow muffler and it sounds good-like it-first experience with magnaflow.
I ran thrush turbo mufflers and thought they were great-surprised because of the low price.

Well I just put a cherrybomb vortex muffler on it over the weekend. Its single 3 in and dual 2 1/2 out. I just dumped it under the bed and its a litle louder than the turbo muffler at idle but reminds me of my magnaflow on my yukon under load and when reved. so far I like it. Its a straight through muffler btw. My cousin had it on his old truck I got it for $20 :)

well i got it all back together today and got a video of her runnin. it pulls so much harder with the new heads and revs so much better with the correct springs. it still needs some tunning though i havent put the timming light on it or vac gauge on the carb yet just kinda slaped it all on and tunned by ear. sprung a leak from the old trans cooler line though i guess i should have bent two new ones instead of just one.
btw thats my dog at the begining of the video lol

I've been wanting a better sound out of my truck too. Something moderately loud, not too obnoxious, but louder than I have. My exhaust dumps out at about a 45 degree angle behind the rear wheels too, kinda tricky that way. I know making them turn down under the vehicle makes for a pretty decent resonating sound.

Right now mine exits under the bed but I don't have turndowns on t though. I'm debating on getting tail pipes put on but I don't plan to run any tips though.
