1979 Chevy C10 Custom Deluxe 350 SBC
« on: July 14, 2020, 07:23:57 PM »
Hi everyone,

I'm new to the squarebody scene and new to this forum, but I just wanted to take the time to show off my new-to-me 1979 Chevy C10. It's got very low KMs, only 65,000, and was maintained very well throughout it's life. After some time during Covid unemployment I have it running very well and mechanically in perfect shape. The next big project will be the body, which I began by repairing rust in the bed and covering it with bed liner. It also needs some work in the cab, but the interior is in pretty good shape minus the usual cracking of the vinyl.

As for goals with the truck, I want to keep it mostly stock and restore it's good looks from the factory. I won't be dropping or lifting, but might level it just to improve the stance a little bit. I want to fix the rust on the body and undercoat the bottom. Eventually she'll need a new paint job but in the meantime I'll try to touch it up with some colour match paint. When I do repaint the truck I want to keep it with a similar metallic green and the white top. I think it's a pretty smart looking colour.

Nice looking C10. You're right about keeping the color scheme, I love the original two tone paint jobs Chevy used during the time period. Oh and that grill, that sure is in great shape!

Yeah man, it looks great.
You're kinda in the same boat with me.
My truck is in good shape mechanically but needs some rust treatment, body work and paint.  8)

Just curious, what is this tall rectangular emblem beside the C10 emblem?

It's from the dealer that the truck was bought at. The name of the dealer was Cheyenne and the emblem is a rather racist caricature of a native american. I guess back in those days the standards were different. Couldn't see any dealer having a similar emblem on a new truck these days.
