« on: December 25, 2002, 06:57:00 PM »
As before posted I would like to convert a 2wd dually to a 4wd dually? Any pointers appreciated. I know I need a dana 60 bud front and am aware to match the ratio with the rear. one big? can I use an NP205 w/4spd in this heavy a truck? will an NV4500 with transfer case work??? (what trans fer case came behind the NV4500? What vehicles was the nv4500 put in? I REALLY would like the five-speed upgrade while I'm at it. Any advice?

You will need an adaptor to use the 5 speed with the older transfer case.  The 4500 came on the later model IFS trucks, with the diff on the driver's side.  There is an article about putting the NV4500 in a '71 Suburban with a NP205 case.  The adaptor was from Advance Adaptors.  There will be some work needed to put the 4x4 stuf under the front of the 2x4 frame.
