suspension lift and shackles
« on: February 14, 2015, 12:51:35 AM »
I have a parts donor truck and it has a 4" lift shackles in front and blocks in the rear. My truck is stock and I was thinking about swapping the lift out or just buying a new lift. If I go the new lift route I was debating on using "revolver shackles" front and rear for the added flex. I have hear/read awful things about them unloading going around curves and side hilling. Has anyone had any experience using these? New lift would be 6"+ and added revoler shackles.

Thanks all!

if you are going for over 6 inches of lift, you want to do an actual suspension lift. not blocks.

and if you ask me. no block lifts ever.

4" lift shackles would be 8" longer than stock
Since it only lifts one end of the spring

Are they really that long ?

I'm not a big fan of shackles, blocks, or body lifts. I was thinking about the revolver shackles for the added articulation.  I'm thinking 8-12" over all. But I would like for it to be streetable. The lift I have would just be until I get the other lift. I'm mainly interested in info on these revolver shackles and lift combo. I've read a lot about them being extremely dangerous.

And I'm not sure how long my shackles are I would estimate around 6-8"

A 4" lift will clear 35s  with a little trimming will clear 38s
Why lift any higher than 4"?

4" would be just fine. I'm mainly after articulation. But I would like a decent size tire 35's would suffice. I would just like to have the room for tire movement when flexing out on obstacles. I was thinking maybe 6" with a 35" tall tire and those revoler shackles.

Like this ^^  His has pins I guess to keep it from unloading going around turns while on road but he doesn't mention a brand name. When I search all I find are the terra flex without a locking pin.

I thought the same thing when I removed the 12" lift from my truck.
