lifting a 73 two wheel drive
« on: May 01, 2002, 11:55:00 AM »
I would like to lift my '73 C-10 about 2 to 2-1/2 inches.  I can get a 2 inch lift kit from JC Whitney that comes with blocks for the rear leaf springs.  I need to replace my rear leaf springs and Procomp makes a leaf spring for 69-87 4-wheel drives.  Will a 4-wheel drive spring fit on a 2-wheel drive truck?  Procomp says it is a 52 inch rear leaf spring.

I am interested about this too. I plan on sometime lifting my 79 1/2 2wd Shortbox 4 inches. Anyone know what the best kit is to do this, and where to get one for cheap, and some longer monotube shocks?

just wondering, why would you want to lift a 2wd?  just gives it a rough ride, bigger tires = less power,  and you still cant go offroadin cuz its a 2wd.

Hmm, lift a two wheel drive, to make it look better, to fit bigger tires, and yes, to take it offroading. You would be suprised, quite a few people go offroading in a two wheel drive...

All the 2WDs I've seen offroad have done nothing but totally tear up the trails.  I hope you plan on adding a locker.  A 3" body lift is probably your best bet on a 2WD.

I'm wantin to lift my 2wd too....The reason for liftin my 2wd truck is cause there ain't no 4wd drive trucks around here cheap enough or ain't beat all to heck...I went offroadin in mine and threw the dang thing in a 7 foot deep ditch....and after i had a mechanic check out the wheels he said my brakes were down to the rivets. I'm glad i wrecked it out there before i got on a highway and couldn't stop. But anyway..Fabtech i think makes a 3 inch lift for 2wd.

www.espo.com/   this is where i got my springs for my c-10.  it lifted the truck about 2 inches, give or take.  i put the big block springs in the front, and the 2800 pound springs in the rear.  it rides REALLY rough though.

Like stated above, Fabtech is well known for their 2wd lifts.
