Suspension Lift? Body Lift?
« on: August 07, 2003, 12:27:00 AM »
I own an 87 Chevy long-bed and wondered if the ride would be any better than a short bed w a 6" lift OR if I would be better off going with a 4" lift and 2 " body? I have no experience w the body lift, just want a few opinions!!

I think a longbed will ride better than a short bed, for example my grandfather has a 95 GMC 1500 shortbed 4x4. Now you would think a 2500 is stiffer and would ride worse than a 1500, but my dad has a 98 Chevy 2500 4x4 longbed ext. cab that rides like a car compared to my grandfathers shortbed. I think the longer wheelbase really helps the ride.

I've heard body lifts aren't good for nothin, so go with a 6" suspension lift, all springs no blocks would ride the best. Just my  2cents.

all springs skyjacker softride 6 in. talked to a guy who had a lifted suburban with it and he said it rode great. Either that or a superlift setup.

Just like they teach you in auto shop, the more sprung weight vs. unsprung weight and the better ride you get.  So, a long bed should ride better than a shortbed with the same suspension.  A Suburban even better.
