8" Lift, shaft components?

just curious as to what i would need to lift the truck 8" would it be better to buy an all spring kit (skyjacker) or do some shackle flips etc. Do any of my driveshafts or steering shafts have to be adjusted? thanks!

You're kinda limited in the front, if you want 8" of suspension lift then you need 8" lift springs.  You have more options in the rear however with a shackle flip.  You can either get 8" springs to get all the lift or do a shackle flip and get 4" lift springs.  A shackle flip is more work but in many cases is preferred because it gives 4" of cheap lift and works to improve your pinion angle.  As far as the driveshafts go, you will need to lengthen them.  Also need to alter steering with a raised arm or bent drag link.  Other option for steering with this much lift is to do a crossover steering setup.

If you are lifting a 4x4 (I suspect so from your username), then you also have the front to deal with.  On a 4x4, you can lift the truck 4-6" and get bigger tires to get more lift.  Check out some of the offroading websites.  They have pics and details on what works, and what doesn't.

I have a Skyjacker 8" Softride system (all spring).  I am still glad I went with springs over using blocks, but wish I knew about shackle flips back then (1994).  The rear 8" springs have way too much arch.

73K20 was right on.  Also, don't forget longer brakelines on an 8" lift.

I found someone selling a swamp runner 12" lift, but i think ill just stick with 6", cutouts and a body lift if i need it. Alot less to mess with plus i already have the brake lines for it. I still may go with a ORD shackle flip and sway bar disconnects for the front to get more articulation. I just want to run 37-38 Wrangler MT/R's since my axles are only 10 and 12 bolts.

Most people don't recommend body lift.  You'll have to extend the battery cables, and the fan shroud won't line up with the fan.  Some people have also reported they needed different radiator hoses.

i know tons of people who run BL with no probs. I dont have a fan shroud, I use a dual speed electric fan and my cables could use lengthening anyhow for dual batteries.
BL are popular here: www.fullsizechevy.com/ BL is a last resort anyhow. I figure 6" lift with Cutouts will clear 37's on my truck no problem.
