I've got a 73 C10 and want to convert it to AWD. What do I need to do?

I was told to get a salvaged truck with AWD or 4WD and the front 1/3 of the frame could be cut and welded to the front part of mine.

Yes, or, you can pull you engine, remove the crossmember that it sits on, removeyou front suspension, remove the tranny and driveline, and swap in the stuff from the other frame.  Then boody lift or transfer case drop to make the cab work.

Plus install 4x4 rear spring shackles.
