From my experience, Swamper TSL's and Bogger's are the absolute kings of mud tires, but like other's have said, if you dd 'em, they won't last very long at all, my last set of TSL's lasted about 9 months before they looked like drag slicks.  Cooper STT's are a good tire, and BFG's are as well.  For a cheap tire it's hard to beat the Dunlop Mud Rover's, Remington Mud Brutes or Mud Kings though, I've had at least one set of all the tires I've mentioned and they're all good, some better than others, but never had problems with any of 'em.
My '86 doesn't get driven very much anymore, but I'm leaning towards the 35X12.50 15 Swamper LTB's or the 35X15X15 TSL's for my next set, a lot of people don't like how loud swampers are, but I LOVE it, lol, sounds like an old prop airplane going down the road, RRROOOOOAAAAAARRRRR!!!!!, haha, good luck man! ;D

I run Coopers on my 4x4.  Yeah yeah it's not a Chevy but my dad's Chevy is in there too! with the hood up :D

I like em.  Last a good while daily driving on the pavement.  Had this set almost 3 years now and they still got some life left in them to go.  Got a nice sound to them...not too loud but not too quiet if you like a bit of tire noise.
