Hey all,
New to the site, I have a 1974 blazer stripped down to bare metal at the painters and I’m locked up on color. We live near the beach so looking for that “look” and really only want light colors. I’m stuck between skyline blue or Spanish gold. I love the idea of the gold but am afraid it may look dated even after the restore. Any suggestions on these two or other colors you think would be great.
Thanks,
Eric

On your own with color! Everyone has different color interest. Like two colors, combine them.
-
For a beach going rig I would choose something of a dark-ish green with light tan interior. But I'm weird so, it probably isn't for everyone.

Yeah for sure. Dark doesn’t hide transgression on body work. I’m thinking Hawaiian blue. Appreciate the feedback fellas

Do good body work and you won't have to worry about hide. 8)

For sure. Took it down to bare metal and painting what I think is an extravagant amount for paint so should be good will post pics when done

Just remember, paint is just the tint over your bodywork. $4-500 a gallon for good base coat.

I suppose it depends on the beach....

Ok here she is.

Looks like my trucks OEM color, except my truck was a couple shades darker.

It’s skyline blue or supposed to be

Would look fantastic with the correct nose and body trim back on it.

Yep I have the 74 grill in a box. Will install when I get back from vaca.

Looks great Eric, I'd like to see it with the 74 grill as well! 8)

Looks great!
My late great mentor, Robert Royal, bought a new K20 in '73, same color.

Thank you! So trying to get the 74 grill on and nothing lines up.
Pic is my assembly , has this been converted to a different year? It had that bullet on it.

I think your prob is that the headlight assembly is from a 79-80 truck. I think those two years offered the square headlights.
The frame around the headlight and running/blinker is larger and one piece. I'll check when I get home.
I bought a '80 with the round option and have found square parts to convert.

Mine looks like it may be a 1979 installed on the 74 to Accommodate that other grill that was on it?
40 years of time adds to a lot of shenanigans.

Yeah just saw your reply looks like a 79 based on some pics. Well should I replace the assembly now that it’s painted or grab a 79 grill and call it a day?

I would take it back to the correct front end if possible.
They had to mod the core support if it's a true '74.
79-80 had attachments points that could accommodate either round or square lights.
I got lucky when I junked out a '79 that had square lights, I have the buckets and other mounting gear to convert my '80.
