With the engine painted, I’ve went ahead and painted the engine bay also I didn’t want it glossy black, so I used satin instead. It still came out pretty shiny for as it’s still wet. Now my next task is to pull the serpentine system off my 2001 blazer and install on the engine. Below are the before and after pics of the engine bay.

I pulled pretty much all of the serpentine drive system off my 2001 V6 Blazer. I went ahead and test fitted everything making sure it lines up correctly. Ive done a lot of internet searching for info on this conversion and it’s pretty much plug and play. You have to use the donor vehicle water pump because after 91-up the water pump rotates counter clockwise which is why I will also have to install an electric fan.

Also i went ahead and cleaned up the pulley brackets and clear coated them. I’m going to clean up the pulleys and repaint them black. So it doesn’t look too dull, I want it too look like a work truck but with class lol

This is the serpentine belt system fully installed, with the brackets clear coated and pulleys painted, I wanted to clean the alternator and compressor but I was afraid of damaging them. Also the compressor was leaking so it will be replaced so I didn’t want to waist time with cleaning it. I would say this looks really good updated

I use Flitz metal pre-clean for gunked up surfaces like that.

Let it soak after you apply with brush.

You can wipe off with wet cloth. It is mildly caustic.

Graingers has it for just under 25 buck, much less of you buy off their website.

Should I use a wire brush or something less coarse ?

Truth is, you will be shocked on how effective it is in dissolving rust, lime, oxidation, and general crud. I would apply, let it soften, start with medium brush to remove crud to then re-apply till you get down to the surface. Scotch bright works well after that. You may have some crevasses that require a brush.

I have the new distributor installed and now it’s the long awaited part of finally installing this engine. I’m just happy that I’ve finally got to this point in the build. My goal is to have the engine installed by the end of this weekend. I’m going to get a new compressor it was leaking previously in blazer I got this serpentine setup from and I still need to clean the alternator

Before I could install my engine unfortunately my transmission mount gave out and I found my transmission on the floor smh. Learn from me kids support you’re transmission firmly and don’t take a year to install your engine lol. I guess now I’ll just clean it off and paint it

Now that my transmission has fallen out of the truck I’m going to service it because the transmission lines and pan were leaking anyway. I put degreaser on it and wire brushed it really well and it came out pretty good. I went ahead and installed a new output shaft seal and the torque converter seal since they usually leak on TH350 transmissions. Painting the transmission is up next !!!
