Rear end change...will it work

I have an opportunity to buy a 3:23 Posi Gu5 G80 rear end that came out of a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500. I want to replace the original 2:73 rear in my '87 Scottsdale C10/R10. Anyone have any idea if this will be a complicated swap? I consider complicated anything more than moving the spring perches and shock mounts.

Well, your R10 is 2WD and 5 lug and then you are going to swap in a 6 lug rear axle that will require new wheels or adapters. Then you have fabrication for mounting to the springs, shocks, setting the pinion angle and adapting the brakes. You'll need speedometer calibration and you want to do this why? The axle you want to swap in is weak so you could save a lot of time and aggravation by replacing the carrier and installing a new ring and pinion.

Besides all that logic, why do you want lower gearing? Are you towing/hauling?
