86 K20 stock exhaust
« on: August 03, 2021, 02:01:46 PM »
Hi all, I just purchased a 1986 Silverado K20. I'm in Maine and the truck is from Nevada so, bonus for our area. No rust. But, needs to be sorted out mechanically. The Truck came with new headers and new dual exhaust. But, too loud for my liking. I want to switch to stock manifolds. I see a number of Ram horn manifolds for sale used. How do these compare to a stock manifold as far as noise? Also has anyone installed them on a K20 with 350. How is clearance, exhaust routing, etc.. I'll probably sell the whole exhaust that is on it currently. Does not clear some spots very well. So, I'll probably start all new and try and line everything up with original exhaust hangers. Thanks

Most "ram horn" manifolds will not work with C10/K10 trucks they dump right into the engine mount.  I would recommend better mufflers unless the headers are just bad.
What clearance issues are you having?
