1985 C10 Custom Deluxe
« on: October 31, 2021, 09:09:57 AM »
Just brought this baby home this weekend. Doeskin tan '85 long bed.

Found it on FB and then traded my (rusted and beat up) 1980 Silverado straight up for it. Just about as "base model" as it comes--the only options are the V8 and a Turbo 350, and AC which doesn't work--but it's extremely straight and all the rust is surface-only. Still has the original LE9 305. It's got one of those old dealership bumpers that says Carlisle Chevrolet, Waxahachie, Texas.

Need to throw some tires on it (I have the fourth white rim and hubcap; the silver rim here is the spare) and clean up the fuel system because it sat since 2016 with a full tank. Need to replace the door locks because I don't have a door key, and the driver's side window won't go down. It's got the grille out of a dual headlight truck missing the center strip, so I'll swap in the right grille at some point.

Other than that, it's pretty much good to go. I'm in love.

Little mirrors and looks like they had to add the antenna too, yeah, base model.
Sweet, it's so nice not fighting rust, looks like a good project,
Good Luck!

I bought a 89 3+3 crewcab, same color. Wife says it's the ugliest color they could have imagined... :(

Nice find though, look forward to how she turns out.

I am a sucker for 85's.  Love the plain jane's.  Ready to start my zero optioned 86C10 next week.  Great find

Thanks, y'all. I'm really excited about this one... my '80 needed a ton of body work and this one doesn't, and I'm really digging the single headlight '85 front as well.

It's not quite as "zero options" as I said, upon reflection... power steering and brakes, and gauges (most of which don't work anymore):

Basic enough to be "base model" but with a few nice functional upgrades. Just wish it had the big mirrors... may put those on at some point.

That is well optioned for the day IMO.  Mine on the other hand...

Good find! Awesome that the RPO sticker is still there. Didn't think about how bare bones they could be until Zieg posted his. On my 87 it's slap full of options.

1 fan belt with A.I.R. pump gone.  Not a whole lot to go wrong.  I had another project pop up that I need to take care of but this one is next at the Zieg85 shop

Wow, yours may be the fewest things I’ve ever seen on an RPO sheet. I’m also coming to this truck from an ‘80 Silverado with rally rims, bumper guards, a bed light, sliding glass, square headlights, etc. so this feels a lot more basic to me even if it isn’t really. I like this one better, though. Still kinda surprised the guy went for a straight up trade.
