Rear axle shaft seal size
« on: January 12, 2022, 03:17:54 PM »
Been going through my brakes changing the fluid and fitted new M/C, when I got to the last rear wheel oil all over the brakes shaft seal passing, trouble is I'm in UK so trying to locate replacement seals of the correct size. I haven't pulled the shaft yet but as far as I can tell the measurements I've taken don't match up with any available seal sizes, they look like 2 9/16" o/d and shaft size is 1 19/32" but not easy with the shaft still in place. Don't want to strip it further without having seals as I need to be able to move the truck around.
Thanks
Graham

The beauty of this series of trucks is that they didn't change a lot things in certain areas. I would get the specified size for your truck year and model, and if you find a differential in sizes, buy them both, or all.

Provided you can return the unused.  ::)

Even if you can't return, you will have what you need when you need it.

Consider the extra costs an insurance policy.  8)

Good to hear Graham!

Ah yes, the Rock. They make a lot of money on 'post' charges!

Their cutest trick is to change depot locations right before your eyes!

I have racked up a few hundred dollars in goods, making sure I select stock from one depot, but when I choose an item that weighs a bit, the order gets split between 3 depots... and the freight (post) triples!!! >:(

I just go elsewhere, Can't bring myself to reward such bad behavior.

Oh and BTW, you can't call them. No number that I can find. Wonder why?????

Hi Johnny, sorry to hear you've had problems with Rock, I've had to use them several times lately and have only had good experiences, I did fall foul of the shipping once not realising 2 depots means 2 x shipping cost but for shipping to UK I find them very reasonable and quick. I really want a headliner but everyones shipping on them is prohibitive!

rock auto is rubbish, they sent me a cat for my father inlaws truck with the o2 bung welded in the wrong place so it was a manufactures defect. if i wanted to return it i would have to pay shipping to return and then pay shipping for the new one.
