Headers Questions
« on: March 14, 2008, 01:05:05 AM »
ok i have a few questions to clear some things up in my head.
first off my headers in my truck now were hand-me-downs i got for free and they are turning into swiss cheese.
ive been reading about the chevelle 3/4 length headers and have a question or 2.
first, i know these are best for a lowered truck, what about clearances on the frames and such.
second,  do they offer them with a 3" collector? reason being is ive ordered s 3" X and 3" mufflers already.
Third, im dropping the truck 3/4 with spindles and a shackle and hanger kit. can i run standard long tubes with out much issue or will i be kicking myself for not getting the chevelle headers?
ive searched around on here but im still a bit skeptical.
thanks

chris

I don't know if you can get them in 3" collector, but I think that is the way the come...
I haven't seen or heard any issues with the ones posted in the tech pages as far as the frame is concerned.
3/4 may not be an issue, but long tube hang really low (below the framerails.  I am dropped 4/6 on mine and the long tubes I had got crushed a few times.

Kooler, Does anyone make long tube SL-2 headers for the Chevelles? As Uno said, I'm also using Cutlass headers on my big block Olds. They fit the GM trucks better than they fit the Cutlass, just are below the frame about 3/4". You never know from one manufacture or engine to the next, but I would sure check them out if you can. Read my post in this section-Headers Update-Dynomax. Mine is 3/4 dropped. The headers have 2 1/2 inch collectors. 3 Inch is BIG ! How much motor are you running ?

Enough.
basically a 355, close to 10.5 comp.
as of now with the 2.25 setup its choked up bad.
and i got a deal on some 3" mufflers and a 3" X-Pipe.
My dad wants it back loud and deep so thats whats its getting.
and i got a decent shot to throw to it.
