bigblock shorty headers

Well, I am happier than a fat girl eating cake ( or a fat boy in my case) For my birthday, my wife bought me a 427 bigblock ( dynoed at 425 hp.425ft/lb torque) for my birthday. It is going in my 76 choptop. I need some advice as far as headers. This thing sits low, and will be lower once the airbag suspension is in, so I need some shorty headers. I have access to a set that came off a 2ton that are stainless steel stockers, and can get them caoted reasonably. I am curious as to any other options that anyone knows of. This will not be a race truck, just a radical cruiser so the 425 hp is more than enough, but I want to choke it down as little as possible. I know longtube would be better, but they would not clear. Any ideas??? Just in case, this is the truck its going in.

I am using Sanderson Chevelle headers on the truck I am building with a BBC.

How low is your truck gonna sit Capt? I am planning on airbagging this thing, so it will sit flat on the ground (though that is not set in stone at this point) I also have an odd idea for running the exhaust. I am planning on running it through the frame right behind the front wheels, having the mufflers mounted where the tanks were under the cab and then exiting out under the steps. This should allow maximum clearnace. (The frame should be the lowerst point) I am usually not into totally slamming a truck, but with the chopped top, I think the lower it is the better it will look, but like I said, nothing is set in stone. I will definately look at the Sanderson headers. The only thing I need to clear that I know of is the stearing shaft. Thanks Capt.

Ive got Sandersons on mine, I love em. an added bonus, no header gaskets, not a leak in the 5 years they have been on there. John

Well, here she is. My new toy:

Standard bore 427 block decked .060, polished steel crank, balanced and blueprinted rotating assembly, Keith Black hyp. pistons, dimple 7/16 rods, Crane 280H cam Rehr Morrison prepped closed chamber heads,w/ port matched Edelbrock torker intake,Erson roller rockers,and a tuned Holley 750. This was built by a professional race engine shop here locally, and the dyno sheet shows 425 hp and 427 ft/lbs torque that is pretty flat from 2000-5300 rpms. As soon as I get the dyno sheet, I will verify that for sure

I'm GREEN with envy!    That's my favorite engine size right there: 427. Those numbers just scream horsepower. Enjoy it man. Should be tons o fun.
