Frame mounting for Z-bar picture?
« on: May 27, 2008, 03:32:43 PM »
Does anyone have a picture of their frame bracket and z-bar assembly with measurements on the length of the z-bar?  I am putting together my extras for the local swap meet next month and don't want to mislead anyone.  I parted out this mid 70's truck several years ago of all the stick conversion stuff and from what I remember it is correct.  I took out the steering column, pedals, rod to the z-bar, frame bracket and z-bar. All I have is the hydraulic setup up on my mid 80's to compare it to.  Thanks in advance.

Yes, looking for actual pics to compare with mine to make sure what I have is from a Chevy.  I have parted out many vehicles over the years and don't want to give anyone the wrong stuff.  I did part a Ford truck out once but don't think I took the clutch stuff, just the tranny which I sold right away.  Thanks.

Chris, here is a couple of pics.  Also what years did they have the older splined end on the steering column shaft?  Thanks in advance.

That is the correct ones for the pre-83 mechanical setup.

Thanks for the info.  Do you know when GM went to the current steering shaft as opposed to the splined version?

Cool, thanks so 73-78, then 79-83 and 84-87 for the integrated wiper/dimmer.  I appreciate the response back.
