Lowering spindles
« on: January 17, 2022, 03:31:09 AM »
My name is Robert and I own a 1973 Chevy C10 Cheyenne long bed and i got a frontend lowering question.ive seen all the different lowering kits on the market and my question is can I use my stock coils with a drop spindle?my understanding of a drop spindle is the shaft that the brake rotor bolts on to is raised.so can I use stock coils with drop spindles?(im looking to lower it just a little bit,not trying to slam it on the ground)

Yes, you can use the spindles with stock springs...but most people would do the springs first before the spindles. Springs are cheaper

Using spindles first won't change the way it rides, it will be exactly the same except lower.
Keep in mind the rear will be higher and the truck much more raked.

Cheaper yet is to cut your existing coil springs by one or tow circles.

I have pretty much the same Truck as Cheyenne 1010 and wanting to lower mine too - is cutting the existing coils a little as good as buying new ones?

I figure the 50 year old original coils have sagged some maybe - which ain't a bad thing ???
'73 Chevy C10, 350, TH350, was a long Fleetside, now she's a short Stepper that's under construction (been in the Family since 1972).

Would rather push a CHEVY than drive a Furd
