Since with broken bones, crazy women and the lot of life going on I was always posting progress on some of my projects. I have been working on them but this thing has taken a ton of my time. It took me 2 years to complete but it's done with the exception of the rear center caps I am wainting on. It's my Aunt and Uncle's 82 El Camino. I restored it for them as a gift... I'll upload before pix later but here it is today. Can't wait to get focused back on my 74.....

It's a tough decision to paint a vehicle a dark color after any amount of body work, but, man, that thing is sweet and done correctly. Well Done!
-
Gift? Wow! The tucked front bumper is interesting. Nice job overall fo' sho'.
-
Very good showcase of your talents!
-
Absolutely georgeous. I have a soft spot for Elkys. I have an 85, and my baby a 68 Elcamino on the project sheet. That is an awesome Elky. I may have some questions for you about the front and rear facias. Awesome, I just cant say it enough.
-
Can I be you uncle
-
Thanks everyone! Yeah I like the tucked bumper look. I also smoothed the tailgate and put the license plate in the roll pan. The plate is usually in the gate on these. I just got the rear center caps on and just have to give it one final detail and off she goes. My 74 is getting jealous big time!
-
Really nice. Guess we know who the favorite nephew is. Lol.
-
You did an amazing job on it. Definately something to feel proud about.
-
Is the rear a fiberglass rollpan?
-
Ya the tucked bumper and rollpan are fiberglass. It'll be done tomorrow with the final details! YAY
-
Nice job, looks sweet. I did an 85 about 15 years ago. Also filled the plate and frenched it into the rear bumper. We ( the owner, & I ) used a fuel filler / plate holder from an early Impala to hide the Reese hitch behind the plate. Also dechromed it, and painted the bumpers, bed lip trim, grill etc. I will have to dig up some pics.
Again very nice job.
-
yea, you can get those from bumpers from lauren engineering...some of there body kits are really tackiy, but they have a few good things like the bumpers and airdams.

It's always a good thing to see your projects Vile! Awesome. Thanks for sharing the ELkie.

I just spent the last 3 weeks fixing up this baby again... Did some engine mods, dual exhaust, custom crossmember, audio, rebuilt the sttering column, floor shifter, put a gas tank in it and other odds and ends. My Aunt and Uncle came and picked it up tonight. It feels good to see their faces light up. Another gift ;)

I had to repair this thread so the El Camino could live on. Ironically someone stole the car last month and my cousin was driving down the road and saw it coming. She realized the driver wasn't one of her parents, blew it around and followed them while calling the police. The cops got him and arrested him so they got the car back in one piece. They left the keys over the visor I guess lol My uncle said he thinks the guy had been stealing the car and then bringing it back because every time he went to use it it was almost out of gas lmao
