« on: December 05, 2015, 08:45:00 AM »

Fits fine, will work but you will find the plug in for the ignition switch will be upside down compared to the non-tilt.  If you want the dimmer and wiper switch functions to work some re-wiring will need to be done but it isn't to hard to figure out.

From 1979-on the wiper wiring colors are the same.  The dash switch will have an extra wire for the panel bulb that you don't need on the column.  The other gotcha is there are two gray wires on 1979-1983 dash wiper plugs... The extra gray panel illumination wire can be cut off and heatshrink installed on the end...
I wrote up the wring for the wiper/washer/pulse system in the electrical group.  http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=32195.0

The harmonica plug with the Turn, Hazard, Horn, Brake, and "Key inserted" wiring is the same part #12004147 and pinout matches on the 1979-1986 CK trucks...  I haven't checked the 87-91 RV series trucks or any earlier than 1979.

The top is snipped from the 1984 wiring manual Bottom is from the 1979 wiring manual.  The Key-inserted buzzer switch is not shown on the 1979 wiring but I believe it's there.

Thanks so much !  Sounds like alittle this and that but can make it work.  The 84 column is in great shape and would love to put it in the 79 that is trashed

The easy way is to leave the dimmer on the floor and the wipers on the dash.  The turns etc are a drop-in.

Migrate the wipers and dimmer later if you want to.

The turn horn etc harmonica plug shouldn't require any changes.  Just plug it in.

The stalk wiper and dimmer switches are completely separate harness connections that you aren't obligated to use.
