Automatic shift handle remove
« on: March 22, 2017, 12:13:44 PM »
I want to remove the automatic shift handle on the steering column in my truck, a 1985 GMC K1500, I converted to an SM465. Do I have to remove everything to do so? Or is just drilling out the pin going to work? My column is tilt, and non of my other columns have this feature. I have been trying to search out the info, but no luck, and have had absolutely NO luck trying to find a manual tilt column(all right I found ONE, but the guy was keeping it for his truck).

The pin will push up from the bottom (no need to drill it out).  The chrome shift handle will pull right off once the pin is removed.

Perfect, bottom of the pin looked liked it was flared out, much better that I don't need to drill it out.
