Alternator Bracket
« on: July 09, 2017, 02:22:02 PM »
The alternator bracket on my 1974 Chevy C10 stepside is ill fitting.  I am not sure it is the correct one for the engine.  It seems to be set angling out from the engine and too high for the alternator.  The adjustment bolt runs low so that the top hold bolt (adjustment) misses the bracket and I end up with a bent bottom part of the bracket and it only holds onto the bottom.

How do I tell if I have a long water pump or a short water pump.  Maybe the previous owner just installed the wrong bracket.

Thanks for your input.
