Hi guys!
Im 100% new to this forum, and to restoring trucks so I need some help making sure all the research Ive done is correct. I bought a 1974 c10 WITH A DUMP BED from a guy and as I was driving it home, the tranny blew apart. No big deal since I bought the truck for less than $2500. Now Ive done my homework and Im sorry if this next part is a bit choppy but I want to make sure this is all correct:
It seems as if a 700r4 or a 4l60 should bolt up to it. The truck is a 350 engine and a th350 with a 9" tail. Assuming I dont get a 4l60e I can also bolt a non electronic one easily enough as well, correct? My driveshaft is 3 pieces (never seen that before) and if I read things correctly the 700r4 and 4l60 are 1/2" shorter. Do I need a new driveshaft to deal with that 1/2"? I know I need to move and drill new holes for the crossmember. Outside of that, it seems simple enough.
