Title: oil leak from the head
Post by: Benny27 on February 20, 2011, 07:18:43 AM
Hi I am looking at a 82 with the 250 i6 engine in it but am a bit worried about the oil leak.
the seller sad it just started to leak oil and he has not looked in to it.

From what I could see it looked to be coming from the green arrow and running down on to the exhaust.
but I am worried that it may be coming out from under the head at the green circle.

So my question is how big of a job would that be to fix?
I am trying to decide what to offer or if I should just pass on it.

When I look at a truck the most important thing to me is the shape and condition of the body. If the body is a cream puff don't get hung up on anything mechanical as parts are readily available both new and used. No one can really tell you where your oil leak is without physically checking it but yes it could leak oil from the head gasket. If so, pull the head and replace the head gasket or convert it to a V8
