That may be one of the causes for the motor to give up the ghost.

Decided to install the tbi on the new motor, to give it one more chance. So now i need some different info. The new motor is running vortec heads so will the intake from my 87 tbi motor bolt up on those heads or would an adaptor plate to bolt the tbi unit on my existing intake be the way to go? My exising intake is a weiland intake I believe.

87 tbi intake is different from vortec. I'd use an adapter.
