Title: Hood Latch Restoration
Post by: ehjorten on June 30, 2020, 01:26:29 PM
Looking to restore the hood latch on my 1991 V3500. I have a beautiful basecoat black paint job on a very straight hood, now I am looking to make all of the other stuff on the hood look acceptable to mount to it.

Any suggestions for how to go about making the latch look new?

I have read on some other forums of people having their latch Parkerized. Not sure where I would have that done around me, but maybe a gunsmith would do it?

Buy a gallon of chem dip and drop it in there and then blue it

I like the idea of 'bluing' it!

Sorry confused: the hood latch pin attached to the hood, or the latch handle behind the grill?  ???

1991...secondary latch handle attached to the hood. Primary hood latch it attached to the radiator support with inside release.
