Title: 79 sierra hombre Need help with 350

i to want to replace card on my 1979 v8 350 sierra grande ,  but dont know what do to,  i dont want 4 barrel card, do to gas,  what do the great minds here sugest?


exhaust smells a lil rich,   like gas,  what should i do?

What's card? Do you mean carburetor? What do you have on it now? What you should do is tune it up, set the timing and adjust the carburetor and go from there.

I think he means carB.  If it has a 4bl on it now, I'd keep it rather than replacing the intak manifold from a 4 bl to a 2 bl intake.  I 4bl carb can get quite good mileage if you don't open up the 4 barrels, and just drive it with the two barrel, in other words, don't stomp the gas.

As vile said, adjust the carb if it is a little rich.  Adjust the timing as well.

rebuild  the 4 barrel, tune-up but no 2 barrel. I have switched to a 2 barrel many years ago thinking it would help gas mileage, and made it worse. Gas mileage is controlled by your foot on the little skinny pedal.

I had done the same thing about 25 years ago on a 72 C-10 I had.  I actually played with the jets and got better.  The exhaust pipes burned clean with a light grey color and it passed emissions standards for the day.  Just a Rochester 2 bbl
