Hold onto that 400 if it's an actual 400sb. Those things are getting hard to come by. I would love an actual 400sb.

For all of those who are curious. .. if you have already modified a harness and have a PCM for a 6.0l it will run a 5.3l. Got the replacement running on my runstand and already tore it down. The engine had 191k on the 5.3l.. a little white smoke when stomping the throttle. Cylinders were glazed with slight cross hatching still visible but no real quaker build up so rebuild kit is on its way.

Current 400 runs strong... but there's room for some modern technology under this hood!

It's in pieces and the heads are just sitting on the block but rebuild kit is on its way!

If for no other reason, you should still keep the 400 for your country lol its the patriotic thing to do.

I told him that but he's not as much a gear head as me and I don't have the $ to but it off him. Did the video work? The cam sounds good for an engine that hasn't ran in 4 years and has less than 100 miles on ot.

Sounds like it runs pretty good, has a decent cam in it it sounds like a little. I've always liked 400s. Wish I was close, I would consider coming and getting it depending on how much he wants for it.

Well it is no longer next in line for an LS swap. Currently, a 5.3l from an '03 suburban that has been freshly rebuilt resides between the frame rails. After a long battle of thinking something was seriously wrong the engine runs. For anyone's future refrence... these 5.3l flex-fuel PCM's are very sensitive to the location of the MAF. If it is throwing codes as ours did, don't replace the MAF simply relocate it closer to the throttle body and make sure there are not any air flow obstructions coming in and more importantly coming out of the MAF and al will be well!!!

The Key to the MAF location is to have it in a straight tube with bends at least 6" from the MAF.
