water in fuel light
« on: April 22, 2013, 02:14:54 PM »
Could someone please help me with getting the water out of the fuel?   My light came on after fueling and I know there's small drains on the frame to the rear of the tanks.  I opened them with the hopes of all the water running out but when opened, nothing happened.   Thank you
ps.  I have a 1982 1/2, two wheel drive, 6.2

Yea.. We're gonna need a picture to follow you. Generally the water in fuel light is detecting water in the filter housing area my 6.2 was a 85 I think your filter housing is different then mine. None the less there should still b a petcock at the filter housing not at "the rear of the tank".

On the 1982-83 models there is a water drain back by your tank, and the water in fuel light checks for water in the tank, not the filter like later models. Opening the petcock on the frame should allow the bottom of the tank to drain, but you might need to attach a vacuum source or suction to clear any rust and debris from the petcock and line to allow fuel out.
