Hey all, Ive got an '86 GMC C1500 with a TH350C under it. Yesterday I did it's first transmission fluid change, and it was also my first, so I had to do some research and I followed some steps from other forums' old topics. After draining the fluid, replacing the filter, and bolting up the pan, I added 6 quarts of fluid. I let it run for a while and get a good heat cycle and to get the fluid flowing, but the dipstick indicates that it's pretty overfilled, a good 3-4 inches past the "full" indicator. So did I overfill it? I guess the answer is pretty obvious, but I thought the trans + converter held 10 quarts, which is why I added 6 at first, expecting to add more. There is no fluid coming out of the top of the fill tube either. One thing I noticed, if this makes a difference: The new filter was a bit smaller and is square shaped compared to the stock filter, which was larger and had a more wavy shape.Thanks.
