Title: Carriage bolt sizes for truck box
Post by: ggevaert on October 14, 2009, 09:35:01 PM
Hello,

I have a 1984 GMC sierra c1500 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive that came without a box but originally had an 8' fleetside box. I have since purchased an 8' fleetside  box but it comes without the carriage bolts. I have read through the forums and noted that I will need 1/2" 13nc threads carriage bolts but the actual lengths seems to vary depending on the thread.  ???

Can someone please confirm for me what lengths I would need for the 8 bolts. I do know there is one really long bolt needed on the drivers side.

Thank You in advance for any help  ;D

Gary

i just bought new ones for my 6 ft box, the short ones i bought were 5", and the long one was 12".  I cut them down after i put them on, about 1/2 in after the nut.

Is there a vendor out there that sells the right ones as a package?

Yes there is, but wouldn't want to discuss that unless Chris can't get 'em.
